Encaff Energy Stix Black Cherry Review
When I first got this sample, I thought it was a powdered energy drink. Good thing I flipped it over to read the back, because it clearly said "No water needed!" Wait, what? No water needed? Yes, no water needed because you are supposed to sprinkle the powder on your tongue and swallow it.
Taste
Have you ever licked your finger and dipped it in a packet of a powdered drink? I used to all the time when I was a kid. The powder tastes very intense due to the concentrated citric acid and flavour crystals. This is how Energy Stix tastes - intense. There are no traces of bitter energy ingredients or a nasty aftertaste - just an intense cherry/berry taste. Once you down the whole packet, the aftertaste does become very diet-like, but the cherry sweetness helps a little.
Tip: Don't sprinkle the whole package on your tongue at once, it will cake. Do it three of four times.
Energy
The package does not say how much caffeine is in it, but a quick browse through the Energy Stix website shows the magic number to be 75 mg. Hm, that's less than a Red Bull, but the delivery is faster. I felt a nice buzz within 10 minutes and within another 10 I was wired and good to go for about an hour. If you are taking this, take two packets.
Ingredients: sorbitol, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, caffeine, citric acid, artificial flavour, salt, FD&C Red #40
