A few months ago I had Turbo Energy Drink, the energy drink made for and sold by Shoppers Drug Mart, and I liked it. Soon Shoppers started selling energy shots of the drink, but only in boxes at first. I finally found a store which sold them individually so I bought one to try. There are two flavours and the one I am trying today is the wild berry blast one. The shots are not cheap at $3.49 each.
The shots come in the standard 60 mL package with the typical small cap which restricts the flow of liquid. The shot smells like cold medicine, and not the one people like. The taste is not as bad. It still tastes like medicine, but the shot is smooth and there is barely any bitterness to it. In fact, there is some sourness towards the end, which makes each sip a little more pleasurable. I have had wild berries in the past and this definitely does not taste like anything wild. If the label didn't tell me what the shot was supposed to taste like, I would not have able to guess the flavour. The flavour itself is similar to condensed regular Monster energy drink with a little bit of bitterness and some more of the medicine taste. Overall, this is not a bad tasting shot, but it is nothing enjoyable.
The shot contains 150 mg of caffeine, which is pretty good. I felt the caffeine rush within 20 minutes, which came in all at once. Jitters followed the rush, but they didn't last a long time. Within half an hour I was calm and energized, unfortunately the boost lasted for a couple of hours. The good news is that I did not experience a crash or any other negative impact.
