Blood Energy Potion Review

This has been on the market for a while, but I finally got my hands on one through ThinkGeek. First off, the packaging is very nice from the blood pack similarities to the bloody fingerprints to all the writing. I chose to drink this directly from the pouch and not to do the suggested microwave method.

The cap is a twist off, so if you are like me thinking that you have to hold this while drinking it, you are wrong. You can take a sip, put the cap on and set it on your desk, or whatever, until you are reading to take the next sip. The smell is not the best thing about this blood energy potion, but its taste is not too bad. It has a cherry/berry taste and a very weird mouth-feel. Halfway through each sip the citric acid provides a nice bite and helps the finish gain freshness. Unfortunately, it also dries the mouth so I had to get some tea to drink along with the Blood Energy Potion. The aftertaste, as I said, is slightly fresh, dry, but overall fruity without any unpleasant touches such as a diet taste or a cough syrup finish. Not a bad energy drink/shot (100 mL can qualify as either one), but not exactly what I was expecting.

This is one of those energy drinks that only states the components of its energy blend and the total, but not the individual amounts. I can see that caffeine is an ingredient, but exactly how much is in it, is no where on the blood pack. Regardless of that, I started to experience a mild boost and an awakening sensation within 10-15 minutes. Unlike most other energy drinks and shots, this one started to come in slow and gradually, which meant that I did not experience the full boost until about an hour later. And it wasn't a huge boost since I was still feeling a bit tired. What little energy got lasted for less than an hour and I needed a coffee to perk up.

Non-medicinal ingredients: filtered water, crystalline fructose, whey protein isolate, natural flavours, citric acid, gum acacia, glycerol ester of wood rosin, FD & C Red 40, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, ferrous sulfate monohydrate, sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, monohydrate, sodium chloride, sodium citrate anhydrous, mono potassium phosphate, sucralose, FD&C yellow 6, FD&C blue 1.
