Havana Cappuccino Vanilla Amaretto Iced Coffee Review

I bought this from Meijer's for just over $2 I believe. I should really start keeping receipts from places I am not used to going.

Taste

Amaretto is the dominant flavour here. It dominates the aroma too. Despite being overpowering, the amaretto is very smooth and compliments the coffee backbone very nicely. The vanilla doesn't show itself until the finish and lingers well into the aftertaste. As mentioned, coffee is the backbone of this drink it is always there throughout every stage of this flavour. It is not raunchy like some other iced coffees nor is it rough. In fact, the whole drink is so smooth tasting that I couldn't put the can down the first time I tasted it. I drank most of it in a single go.

Also, there is no bad flavour left in your mouth when you are done drinking it. Normally there is a bit of raunchiness as a result of the milk and coffee, but the added vanilla and amaretto offset this raunchiness and the aftertaste is very enjoyable.

One thing I don't like, and it's a problem that most iced coffees, is the dry aftertaste. I had to get a glass of water soon after I was finished with the can.

Energy

The initial sugary kick comes in quickly in the first 10 minutes. I felt a bit jittery though not as jittery as from drinking a sugary energy drink. There is no indication of the amount of caffeine contained in the can nor can I find it anywhere online, but since the first ingredient is "brewed coffee", then I expect this to contain at least the same amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee (yes, I know it is bigger than a cup, but it also has other stuff added to it).

The caffeine kick comes in a bit late and it is nice, but nothing mind blowing. This cannot be compared to a Monster iced coffee, but compared to a simple cup of coffee, it offers a bit less in terms of a boost. The taste is pretty damn good though.

Whatever kick I got from this didn't last more than 1.5-2 hours and there was no crash at the end.

Scores:
Cost - $2+ from Meijer's
Taste - 8.5/10
Energy - 6.8/10

Overall - 15.3/20...great tasting iced coffee, but if you are willing to sacrifice taste for energy, get an iced coffee produced by one of the big energy drink brands
