Monster Rehab Green Tea and Energy Review

The Green Tea Rehab is finally available in Canada...sort of. I got it at one of those large convenience store that sell tons of imported things. The first indication that this was not made specifically for Canada was the lack of French on the label. Still, I got 2 of these for only $5. This was way cheaper than any 7-11 or gas station in my area.

Taste

Holy moly, this is good! The taste is a combination of green tea, pineapple and apple. The fruits are stronger than the green tea making this an extremely refreshing morning drink. The green tea is not unnoticeable and actually starts off strong, but gets overpowered by the fruits. Once overpowered, the taste lingers beneath the fruits, providing an earthy undertone. I know this may not sound like a good combination, but I found it very enjoyable.

Now, since there are only 20 calories in the can (I know it says 10 on the front, but it is 10 per serving and there are 2 servings per can), the typical sweetener aftertaste is present. Fortunately, the chemists at Monster have managed to make it as subtle as possible when compared to other sugar free, or low-carb drinks. I didn't mind it at all.

Energy

The Rehab blend is 3,200 mg and contains caffeine, however, the actual caffeine content is not mentioned anywhere on the can. Once again I had to turn to the Internet for an answer. Well, the answer was 170 mg, not bad.

The effects are noticeable within 15-20 minutes. I thought it was a bit longer than normal and I wasn't particularly tired. Nevertheless, once the effects become noticeable you are in for a treat. The energy kick is gradual from the initial moment until the caffeine is fully absorbed and there are no jitters. After another 15 minutes I was feeling super energized, focused and just eager to get to work.

The boost lasted for about 3-4 hours and there was no noticeable crash at the end. Overall, I really enjoyed the taste and the boost was as good as always...minus the initial kick.

Scores:
Cost - 2 for $5
Taste - 9/10
Energy - 8/10

Overall - 17/20...another solid product from Monster and a great addition to the Rehab line

    1. Got it from Farah's Food Mart in Waterloo. I have seen it at a couple of Hasty Markets in Toronto and southern Ontario too.
