Nescafe Original Iced Coffee Review

About a month ago without any fanfare, Nescafe introduced a couple of iced coffees in cans to the Canadian market. I originally came across these at a WalMart and have yet to see them elsewhere.

Taste

Out of the can, the original Nescafe looks like any other canned iced coffee. The only distinguishing feature is the bolder coffee aroma.

The flavor is watery at first but builds up a tiny bit after a couple of sips. The mouthfeel is thin and doesn't change. Normally the added milk bulks up the mouthfeel, but whatever has been added to this coffee doesn't do a good job.

If you ignore the watery nature of the flavor, the coffee part is very decent. Once the flavors build up a bit, you can tell that the coffee that was used for this drink is of a good calibre. The only problem is that more should have been used.

Energy

There is no mentioning of caffeine content, but I would guess that it falls somewhere in the 80 to 100 mg range. After 15-20 minutes I started to feel awake and even a bit focused despite feeling a wave of jitters coming. Another 10-15 minutes I was feeling rather energized and ready for physical activities. The kick lasted for about 1.5 - 2 hours and finished without any drama.

Scores:
Cost - $2 (promotion)
Taste - 7.5/10
Energy - 6/10

Overall - 13.5/20...has the potential but needs more coffee
