SoBe Lizard Fuel Review

Lizard Fuel is a Strawberry Banana Flavoured Beverage with a blend of astragalus, ginseng and yerba mate. I picked this up at the local Sobeys when I went there looking for Guru Juicy. I paid $2.29 CAD, which is pretty good for a 591 mL drink. I am not expecting a huge energy boost since this is not really an energy drink, but the sugar, ginseng and yerba mate should pep me up a bit.

The drink is cloudy and pale pink in color. It tastes creamy with hints of banana. You can notice the strawberry flavour in the immediate aftertaste. There is a certain herbal undertone while drinking, which does not ruin the whole experience, but makes you question whether or not it is a good or a bad taste. In the aftertaste the undertone develops into a distant coffee bean
taste. The drink becomes gradually sweeter and may become too sweet for some towards the end, especially if drunk quickly. It is a good thirst quencher if you drink half the bottle, because by the end you will need something else to quench the thirst you developed from all the sugar...something like a glass of water.

I got a boost quickly, probably from all the sugar, but not the same boost you would get from an energy drink. The Pepsi website says that there are 0 mg of caffeine in a bottle of Lizard Fuel. I am a bit surprised since there is some caffeine in the yerba mate plant. The sugar really didn't last long of course.

Scores:
Cost - $2.29 CAD for a 591 mL bottle
Taste - 7.6/10

Overall - 7.6/10...not bad, but a bit too sweet. You can buy some great tasting juices/soft drinks for around the same price
