Last night a small package from ThinkGeek arrived and good thing that it did because I had one very sleepless night and I am exhausted this morning. The first thing I decided to try was the pack of EBOOST that I bought for $5.99. There are 5 packets inside, which can make 5 orange flavoured energy drinks.
Of all the powdered energy drinks that I have tried, this has to have the best packaging design. It is well organized, laid out and the color combination is pleasing to my eyes. The packets dissolve in water and make a cloudy, orange/carrot colored drink with a thin pale orange foam ring around the edges of the glass.
The drinks smells and tastes like an orange/tangerine combination with a little bit of salt. The resulting drink is non-carbonated, which helps it go down easy in a few large gulps. There is some diet taste and aftertaste which shows up about a minute after consumption, but does not linger for long. What stays for a while is a subtle tangerine aftertaste. Overall this is a solid tasting energy drink, which could be made better if juice was used instead of water.
There is no indication of the amount of caffeine present in each packet, but I know there is some since there is Green Tea Extract. The back states that the EBOOST blend is 1,050 mg and breaks it down, but does not give the individual amounts. Good thing I am really tired because judging the energy kick will be easy. I did not experience a sudden rush of energy due to the lack of sugar, but after 10 - 15 minutes, I started to feel more focused on my morning tasks. Within 20 minutes I was feeling much better, but I still wasn't fully awake and energized. I was feeling calm and focused, but did not have the strength to do anything physical. I felt this way for some time, but I wished there was something more, like a hard caffeine hit just to get my gears going. I could have made the drink much stronger if I had added a caffeine mixer like 5150.
I think EBOOST will make the perfect afternoon drink when you want to fight off the sleep, but don't want to caffeinate yourself so you can't sleep.

Nice review. The taste past should have been ranked at least a 9 as it tickled the taste buds and the tongue demanded more of it.
