For $2.99 you can get 14.2 grams of chocolate covered espresso beans in a very attractive D-cell-looking container. Yeah, that's right, for $3 you get 8 or 9 beans. I am a little surprised when you can go down to the local Bulk Barn and get about 50 grams of the stuff for the same price...if not more. But let's get past that and give this a try.
Taste
Weeeelll, they taste like chocolate covered espresso beans except that they are sweeter than what one can find at a Bulk Barn. Also the bean inside is pretty soft so the candies are very easy to eat and go down fast. There are no active ingredients other than the bean inside so there is no bitterness other than some from the bean.
Energy
There is not much of it unless you eat all of them, and that's what I did. The energy hit comes in within 20-30 minutes and it is pretty decent. A focus period comes in around the same time as well, which is great. It lasts for about 30 or so minutes and then it is pure energy. The overall experience resembles that of drinking espressos and the energy lasts about the same time, about 2 to 3 hours.
Ingredients: dark chocolate, sugar, whole bean coffee, corn syrup, tapioca dextrin, artificial lake color, caramba wax, confectioner's glaze, incidental milk
Scores:
Cost - $2.99 from ThinkGeek
Taste - 8/10
Energy - 7.5/10
Overall - 15.5/20...pretty decent, in a nice package, but could be a little cheaper for what it is
