Rockstar Super Sours Green Apple Energy Drink Review

They are finally here in Canada - Rockstar's Super Sours energy drinks. I actually bought a bunch on launch day a few weeks ago, but didn't get the chance to sit down and write a review until now. You can find these at most gas stations, 7-11s and pretty much anywhere else where Rockstars are sold.

Taste

They nailed this flavour. This really tastes like a green apple - it is sour, a tiny bit sweet and has a ton of green apple flavour. The sweetness is not as intense at first due to the sourness, but as you keep drinking, it does build up and you sense your mouth getting stickier and stickier and a tad bit dry.

The aftertaste is dry, crisp and carries some of the fresh apple flavour with just a tiny bit of caramel in the distance. A moments this reminded me of caramel green apples.

Other than that, I have nothing much to add - this really tastes like a green apple and I love it.

Energy

Being a Rockstar, the energy recipe is pretty much the same as every other Rockstar - 160 mg of caffeine and some sugar. The initial kick is fast and the sourness helped it even more. I drank this can quickly and yes, I did experience some jitters, but I was ready for it.

The rest of the boost is standard - jitters die down, caffeine kicks in and makes you feel like you want to run around the room for the next few hours. The end was clean without drama (i.e. a crash).

Scores:
Cost - $3.29
Taste - 9/10
Energy - 8/10

Overall - 17/20...I love that green apple taste and the energy is always good
