Rip It Energy Tribute Review

I love trying new Rip It energy drinks because one - they are super cheap, and two - they keep coming out with new flavours (also they already have so many). Last time I was across the border in the US I found the Tribute "flavour" (the flavour is actually Active Mandarin and Live Wild Lime) for $1.09 at a gas station on my way back home (not sure the exact name - it wasn't a big name).

Taste

So, as you can see in the photo, the drink is hazy and neon yellow/green in color. It smells like a limeanade but tastes like something much less sour. Though the tangerine is not present in the aroma, nor in the color, it it plays a strong role in the flavour. Up front it is lime, however, immediately after you get a wave of tangarine which lasts well into the aftertaste.

The flavous feel creamy at times and it never feels too sweet like some of the other Rip It energy drinks. The lime adds a refreshing touch to the aftertaste, which is similar to the flavour - lingering lime and tangerine notes. Overall, I really liked this drink. It was refreshing, tasty and cheap.

Energy

Here is a number I haven't seen in a while - 200 mg of caffeine in the can! Yessssss! Lately the caffeine content of the new energy drinks I have been trying hovers around the 150 - 160 mg mark so a bump to 200 mg can be easily felt. It is like drinking an extra half a can of Red Bull.

Anyways, the effects are quick due to the sugar hit at the start. I felt awake within 10-15 minutes and also felt a bit jittery. After 15 minutes of jitters, I felt more relaxed yet fully energized and motivated to do some work.

The kick was relatively clean and ended 3-4 hours later with a mild crash (nothing a cup of tea could not fix). Great drink this is!

Scores:
Cost - $1.09
Taste - 8.9/10
Energy - 8.8/10

Overall - 17.7/20...thought it was a gimmicky drink at first, but the taste and the kick proved me wrong - excellent buy for $1.09
