Guru Green Tea Honey-Lemon Energy Drink Review
Sadly the place where I got the other Guru, Juicy Superfruit, was out of the other flavour - Tangerine. Instead of not getting anything, I picked up their iced tea, which also retails for $2.99 CAD for a 355 mL can. This one also has a fantastic label on the can, but the Juicy one was much more vivid.
This one has the color of a slightly oxidized green tea and tastes fairly refreshing. The lemon has the strongest taste while drinking, while the green tea taste comes in at the end and is present in the initial aftertaste. The green tea aftertaste is replaced by a honey taste in a couple of minutes. Unlike the Beaver Buzz Green Tea energy drink, this one does not have a bitter/cough syrup undertone, it just tastes like iced tea. Overall the iced tea is not as good tasting as the superfruit one, but it still tastes better than most other energy drinks.
Just like the Juicy, this one does not have the caffeine content written anywhere on the can. After some research I found out that the iced tea has the same amount of caffeine - 140 mg per can. The caffeine here is also from natural sources like green tea extract, guarana extract and black tea extract. Somehow this got me through to lunch and I never experienced a crash. It may have less caffeine than other energy drinks, but this works.
Scores:
Cost - $2.99 CAD for a 355 mL can. I found this at Sobeys and I have not seen it anywhere else
Taste - 8.3/10...better tasting than Beaver Buzz Green Tea
Energy - 7.9/10
Overall - 16.2/20...great taste, less caffeine than other drinks, yet it works better
