Foosh Energy Mints Review

A few weeks ago Vroom Foods got in touch with me and asked me if I wanted to review their products - Foosh Energy Mints and Buzz Bite Chocolate Energy Chews. Naturally I agreed and yesterday I got a package in the mail with Foosh Energy Mints in it. There were 4 tins and 4 packs with a total of 72 mints, each containing 100 mg of caffeine, probably enough caffeine to kill myself with. Because of this generosity, I decided to give some away to see what my friends think.

The Vroom Foods products are available in Canada through 7-11. The tins of Foosh mints cost $3.99 while the 6 packs, $2.69. Tins of Buzz Bite Chocolate Energy Chews also cost $3.99 CAD.

The first thing I noticed was the packaging - it is small. The tins contain 12 mints each, yet they are smaller than a 12 pack of gum. The same thing goes for the Foosh 6 pack, which can easily fit in any pocket. The one thing I absolutely love about the 6 pack is the little tab on the back. If you don't have shelf space, you can pop the tab out and hang the product. I like this sort of attention to detail.

I ate a couple of Foosh mints around 10 am without having had any caffeine that morning. The mints had a very strong initial minty taste without any noticeable bitter notes. The rough texture quickly revealed itself, but it didn't bother me at all. The strong minty taste lasted for a while, but some bitterness started to find its way to my taste buds towards the end of the mints. The finish was minty with a slight bitterness. Overall the taste is great and much better than any of the other energy mints I have had.

Now lets talk about the caffeine and the energy rush. As I already mentioned, each mint contains 100 mg of caffeine, which is more than what one would find in other mints on the market. Before I was even done with the mints, I started to feel energized. By the time I was done, I was completely wired, but not jittery. I felt fantastic for a couple of hours, but then I started to come down from my caffeine high. About 3 hours later I started to feel tired...OK, I blame that on the heavy lunch I had and the fact that I was dehydrated. Once I re-hydrated myself, I was back to feeling pretty good, not hyper, but pretty good.

As I mentioned earlier I gave a few packs away to see what people think of the mints. The response was positive - everyone thought Foosh tasted the way a mint should taste, but they did mention the slightly bitter finish. Some liked the texture, some didn't.

Scores:
Cost - $2.69 CAD or $3.99 CAD depending on the package
Taste - 9/10
Energy - 8.5/10

Overall - 17.5/20...tastes like a mint, works like an energy drink...fantastic
