Xyience X Energy Shot Cran Razz Review

I finally found this energy shot. Sure, it has been available in Ontario for only a few weeks, but I actually saw it at a Mac's a couple of days ago. Yep, the shot is pricey at $3.49 for 90 mL, but I expect good things from it.

Is it me or are energy shots getting bigger and bigger? Correct me if I am wrong, but originally they were around 60 mL, or 2 oz, but now many of these new shots are 75 - 119 mL. What is up with that? Anyways, lets try the Xyience shot.

I was greeted by a pink/purple foam which receded in a second. Best foam ever! The aroma is not that strong but sweet hints of berries and sour notes of cranberries can be detected. The flavour is there too - the sourness from the cranberries and a touch of the sweetness of the berries. The flavour starts watery/diluted, but OK, develops into a sour and more flavourful one, but finishes on a bitter note. The bitterness disappears in the aftertaste and all you can taste is the citric acid and the cranberries. The sourness makes the aftertaste refreshing and masks the taste from the artificial sweeteners very well. This shot does not taste bad at all.

But here comes the best part - the shot contains 180 mg of caffeine, plus some extra from the guarana extract. I felt awake soon after consuming the shot, but I did not experience the calm and focused period some energy shots provide. I also did not experience any jitters, just pure energy, which reached its full potential quickly and remained there for about 3 hours. At the end of it all I did not experience a crash or a headache.
