SoBe Energize Mango Melon Review

This is the second flavour of the new SoBe drinks I will be trying. I wasn't very impressed with the Green Tea one that I had couple of days ago, but I hope this will be different. I got both drinks for $3 because of the sale Mac's was having.

For starters, this drink has a much better aroma than the Green Tea one. The mango scent jumps out right away while the melon one is more subtle. The taste is also much better than the Green Tea even though it is still very sweet. The melon taste is much stronger in the taste than it is in the aroma and both main flavours take turns teasing the taste-buds. There are no additional detectable flavours or anything that ruins the overall taste. The aftertaste is pleasant and the sweet, fruity taste lingers for some time. Of course like with any other sweet drink, the sweetness in this one builds up as you continue drinking.

There is a lot of sugar in this bottle - 70.92 grams! It is probably the source of most of the energy one might get from this since according to the Pepsi Product Information site, this drink has 0 mg of caffeine.

Ingredients: water, sugar, grape juice from concentrate, natural flavour, citric acid, pectin, vitamin C, gum arabic, colour, ester gum, panax ginseng root extract, hibiscus extract, chamomile flower extract.

Scores:
Cost - $3 for 2 bottles
Taste - 8.7/10

Overall - 8.7/10...better tasting than SoBe's Energize Green Tea, but is still very sweet

  2. This drink has crushed cochineal bugs in it. This ingredient is listed on the bottle but was not listed in this article. Why? Starbucks uses the cochineal bug for coloring. And so does SoBe.

    1. The ingredient was not on the list of ingredients on this bottle. It could be part of color, but different labeling regulations may not require you to state what the added color might be made of.
