Rage Inferno Grapefruit Energy Drink Review
It took me a while to figure out if this yellow bottle differs in any way from the red one. On the outside both have the same labels, same ingredients and same amount of caffeine and the only difference is really the color of the bottle. After some quick research on the spot, I found that the yellow is supposed to taste like grapefruit so I picked up a bottle and decided to give it a shot.
Taste
Yeeeeep, this oozes grapefruit notes the moment the cap leaves the bottle. The taste is very refreshing on a lazy (and a slightly hungover) Sunday morning with its sour kick. There is very little of anything else in the taste.....except for an odd, slightly medicinal undertone. I say medicinal in the sense of crushed pills added to this grapefruit juice. This isn't off-putting and is very subtle, but it can be noticed. Aside from this, there is no bitterness or anything else that hints at the amount of caffeine present in this bottle. Good stuff.
Energy
Oh, this has a nice kick! There are 375 mg of caffeine and they really supercharge your body. The energy kicks in surprisingly calmly and gradually. I drank half of the bottle quickly and then sipped on the rest for a bit. I didn't experience a strong case of the jitters, but there were some. The initial "wake-up" kick came from the puckery grapefruit flavour, followed by the bit of sugar, followed by the caffeine. Within 5 minutes I was already feeling awake and alert (from the sourness) and within another 20 minutes I was feeling ready to tackle my Sunday morning (just cleaning up last night's mess and re-stocking the fridge).
The effects lasted for hours and hours and there was just a mild crash at the end. This yellow drink is much better than the stuff that comes in the red bottle.
Scores:
Cost - $2.99
Taste - 8/10
Energy - 10/10
Overall - 18/20...buy this monster instead of the red one
