Shockwave Orange Mango Energy Drink Review

Finally, a Shockwave name I can understand and know what to expect - Orange Mango. This is much more informative than calling it Infrared. And look - 50% juice! Hmmm, this reminds me of Rockstar Juiced. I wouldn't be surprised if this is a cheap copy.

Taste

This is a rather enjoyable energy drink. It feels like you are drinking orange/mango juice blended with some club soda. The fruit taste and juice thickness is up front while the carbonation comes in second and is not as intense as the other flavours of Shockwave. The taste isn't very sweet and there is even a bit of a citric bite near the end from the orange. If you check the back of the can, you will see that there are only 22 grams of sugar in the entire can. For comparison, other Shockwaves contain 66 grams!

Energy

There is no indication of the actual amount of caffeine, but the entire energy blend is 1,590 mg. With only 22 grams of sugar it is not surprising that the initial kick didn't appear until about the 15 minute mark and that it wasn't as strong or jittery. Once the caffeine started kicking in about 30-40 minutes later, I was feeling well energized and focused without experiencing any jitters. The kick lasted for about 2-2.5 hours so I will place the caffeine content between 120 mg and 160 mg of caffeine.

Yuuuup, this is a daaaamn good cheap energy drink. Next time I am across the border, I will get a whole bunch of these.

Scores:
Cost - 2 for $2 from Speedway
Taste - 9.3/10
Energy - 6.5/10

Overall - 15.5/20...better tasting than Rockstar Juiced for a lot less money
