Last week I had the Headshot Apple Slam mega shot and liked it, so I went to Mac's again to look for the other flavour - blueberry slam. The shot costs the same, $2.99 CAD and comes in the same gigantic, 118 mL container.
Upon taking the lid off I was greeted by a blue foam and a very inviting candy aroma. The shot reminded me of Liquid Ice, which itself is blue and tastes a lot like blue Jell-o. There are hardly any traces of the energy ingredients in the taste, which is a huge plus. However, the shot is very sweet and the sweetness builds up even if you take it in 3-4 gulps. A bit of sourness can be detected, but it is not enough to counteract the sweetness. I still like this shot as it doesn't taste like an energy shot, but more like a sweet soft drink.
The 118 mL shot contains only 80 mg of caffeine which is enough to wake you up, but not enough to give you a prolonged rush. I felt awake within 20 minutes of consuming the shot and did not experience any jitters. The energy boost was enough to go through my morning routine, but by lunch I had to have a coffee to get through the rest of the day.
